Christ Lutheran Church of Fairfax, CA
Education and Fellowship
Jesus said that the greatest commandment is to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. We approach education and fellowship as ways to nourish all these things.
Youth
Our young people gather every Monday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. We cook together (ever made lumpia? It's a Filipino eggroll. Yum.), eat together, pray and play together. We also do service together—such as leading special worship services or helping at the Fairfax Food Pantry; and we have outings, such as bowling. We have a crazy good time, and grow spiritually in the process!
Adults
We offer a changing variety of short-term learning opportunities. Some recent offerings have been: “Exploring the Way: An Introduction to the Spiritual Journey,” and "A Gardener, Two Travelers, and a Cheat: Character Studies in the Book of Genesis," and "Living Simply." Coming soon: a study of Obery M. Hendricks, Jr.'s book, "The Politics of Jesus."
Past activities include Movies and Meals—participants see a currently playing film on their own, then come together to discuss the film (as well as everything else under the sun) over a meal. We plan around our members' interests. Want to make jewelry together? Have a book or poetry group? We put the word out and see what happens!
